The first of two live-action endings I wrote and co-produced for the game.
This simple cinematic contains a lot of hidden messaging to players. Pretty much everything was defined on the script-level, including camera shots.
Trivia:
The part near the end with the two characters looking at each other, and the shot of the mask, caused a huge amount of speculation and discussion among fans, because this wasn't meant to be the 'true' ending of the story; that was revealed in a second filmed scene players had to unlock.
The first teaser trailer made for World in Conflict.
My contributions were writing, direction and animatics. (I also did one of the voices.) For this trailer, I used captured flight sim footage, photographs and Google maps data to make a pre-vis animatic of the trailer, which was then recreated in high resolution by the Cinematic Producer.
Trivia:
The "VHS static" effect was done by me filming real VHS interference off an old CRT television, a technique that was later used by Creative Assembly on "Alien Isolation"!
A concept teaser animatic.
This pre-vis sequence was put together in a day for a game proposal that was presented by me to the board of Vivendi Universal Games. It was meant as a mood-setting intro to our proof-of-concept slideshow from a IP I came up with. I did the video editing and 2D graphics.
Trivia:
I modeled the car and textures using photographs off a childhood-dream-car I once owned.
The finale of Ground Control 2
I wrote and co-directed this scene out of the GC2 single player campaign. It was important to leave the audience wanting more, but we couldn't leave it on a cliffhanger because we didn't know if the series would continue. I also felt that we shouldn't wrap it all up in a nice 'happy ending', but end in drama, with a glimmer of hopeful continuance.
Trivia:
The ending was partially inspired by the rom-com movie "Green Card", which also has an ambiguous end, where the audience has some freedom to decide what happened later.
A release trailer
For this RTS game I wore a lot of hats and almost ended up being a creative director of sorts, tutoring the developers in how to create cinematics and drama, as well as story-editing and casting. I captured and edited this trailer for the premiere reveal.
